How to Find the Perfect Diet for You

There is not a universal perfect diet that works for everyone.

That’s because how much you eat is actually more important than what you eat.

Studies show that moderating your food intake and maintaining a healthy body weight will do more for your health than optimizing your diet quality.

For example, an 8-week randomized controlled trial comparing the standard American diet to an “optimal” diet found little difference in health markers by the end of the study.

Importantly, calories were kept equal among both groups.

Conversely, dropping significant body weight via a weight loss drug delivers huge improvements in health markers, without notable improvements in diet quality.

When people eat less, they become healthier (within reason — obviously I’m not talking about eating disorders here).

Therefore, the optimal diet for you is the one that causes you to naturally eat less without feeling hungry or deprived (eating less while being miserable is not a good solution).

That diet will be different for each person.
